How to read the heatmap#

Bigger tiles represent companies with larger market capitalizations. Return views use green for gains and red for losses. Raw valuation views rank current positive multiples across the index; percentile views instead compare each company's valuation with its own 10-year history. Multiple listed share classes are reduced to the primary company row. For exact rankings, open Dow stock performance; for the filing-derived roster and weights, see Dow companies.

FAQ#

What does the Dow heatmap show?
It shows Dow companies as tiles grouped by sector. Tile size represents market capitalization and color represents the selected return, valuation, dividend-yield or beta metric.
How can I see the best-performing Dow stocks YTD?
Choose YTD in the colour controls for a visual scan, or use the sortable stock-performance ranking for exact best-to-worst returns.
Why do some valuation tiles have no color value?
A raw P/E, P/S, P/B or P/FCF ratio is omitted when its denominator is zero or negative. A loss-making company is not meaningfully 'cheap' on that multiple, so the map shows it as unavailable instead of assigning a misleading rank.
