About these returns#
- What does each sparkline show?
- Each chart shows the return printed above it, starting at 0%. YTD starts at the previous year's final close; 1Y starts at the close on or before the same date a year earlier. Each chart fills its own time window and uses its own vertical scale.
- Where do the returns come from?
- Index returns use the tracking fund named in each row. Returns include reinvested distributions and are in the fund's listing currency. Gold, silver and crypto pay no distributions, so their total and price returns are the same.
- What does the 1D column show?
- Today's move against the previous close, for the tracking fund named in the row. It updates through the trading session, so it is the one figure here that is not an end-of-day number. The FTSE 100 row is the exception: its London listing has no intraday feed here, so its 1D figure stays at the last close shown beside it.
- When are the figures updated?
- YTD and 1Y, and both charts, are dated by the latest available end-of-day close shown in each row. The 1D figure is live during market hours and settles to the closing move afterwards. A dash means the data does not cover the full period.
